Welcome to my very special project! These are my Velveteen Lops! For those who are not familiar, this is a breed! It's a fairly new breed but yes, it's a breed and if you have not had a chance to become familiar with this breed, check out the link below. I was first introduced to this breed about 5 years ago when I happened to see this adorable lop eared rex furred bunny. I started looking into the breed eventually purchased myself a pair. However, due to it's unfamiliarity and unpopularity among Northwest breeders, I gave up and did not start raising Velveteen Lops. However, I never lost interest in the breed and kept a close eye on it's progress. I've watched this breed explode in popularity across parts of the US and have almost drooled over how beautiful this breed become over the years.
The Boys
Wildriver's Blue GrassBlue/Fawn Harlequin
A-B-C-ddej- SR Banjo (Black/Orange Harlequin) x SR Marlyn (Blue/Fawn Tricolor) Smaller buck to help keep the size down in my program. Nicely balanced boy with decent color and fur BOS MolassesChocolate Gold Tipped Steel
A-bb-C-D-Ese Arroyo Starbuck (Sable Agouti) x Matthy's Kawai (Blue) One of my favorite bucks. He carries REW which makes him perfect for multiple color programs. So far, he has been used in both my Shaded and Self programs and has produced some nice offspring. Has even produced more Steel babies. Picture doesn't do him justice CV CumulusRuby Eyed White
??-??-cc-??-?? BOS's Khal Drogo (Seal) x McK's 73 Sansa (Sable Point) Nice looking REW buck I brought in for my Shaded Program. Nice fur density and body on this boy. |
3L CharlieBlack/Orange Harlequin
A-B-C-Dd-ej- Arroyo Valentino (Tricolor) x Wildriver's Creep (Bkn Orange) Lovely Harli boy. One of my newer herd bucks for my Tricolor program. Has already produced some nice looking Tri babies for me. Wildriver's PearBroken Cream
A-B-C-ddeeEnen Rair-Find Jasper (Broken Black Tort) x Wildriver's Black Swan (Black-Hidden Steel). Originally only planned on keeping this buck long enough to breed with my Tricolor doe since he had ear length and I had nothing else old enough that would be good for her color. I'm actually impressed by how he turned out. He has great ears and decent fur. Good body, sweet temperament (like his daddy). Just shows you that sometimes, waiting a while is a good thing. You might wonder how it could happen that I could get a broken cream (agouti color) from 2 self. However, if you read below about the dam of this buck, she is a hidden steel (genetically an agouti but looks black.) so here you have a true genetic cream out of broken tort and what appears to be a black. SR BanjoBlack/Orange Harlequin
A-B-C-D-ej-enen Arroyo Valentino (Harli) x Ba's 103BA Glitter (Black/Orange Tricolor) Colors isn't much to look at unless you like brindling but boy is this buck NICE! Ears are awesome on this boy and really like his body. Very impressed with the quality of this buck. He'll make some beautiful Tricolors! |
The Girls
SR MarlynBlue/Fawn Tricolor
A-B-C-ddej-Enen CMR's Sally's Journey Home (Blue/Fawn Tricolor) x Arroyo Sv4 Sadie (Sable) Lovely Tricolor doe here with FUR! I love the fullness of her body too. Who doesn't love a pretty Tricolor pattern! Ears are not very long but I have a feeling I've got some bucks that can give her kids some ears! :) Lops Unlimited's SummerCream or Lynx
A-?-C-ddee or A-bbC-ddE- Lops Unlimited's Tad (Lynx) x Lops Unlimited's Jasmine (Blue) Summer is currently my super baby machine. LOL! She LOVES to raise litters so much so that I think she gets depressed if she stays open (unbred) for too long. She's hates posing and always looks awful when you try but it's not a big deal since she's a great brood doe and produces nice looking babies. MOA's Apple JuiceBroken Cream
A-B-C-ddeeEnen Arroyo Aston (Broken Cream) x Arroyo Misty (Blue) Lovely little girl I bought for my tricolor program. Should make a decent addition. I'm not wild about the cream variety (very common) but she's pretty nice. |
3L SiennaBroken Orange
A-B-C-Dd-ee Enen Arroyo's Glifford (Bkn Orange) x SR Hazley (Blue) Love this big broody girl. Big ears, good color, excellent mom. Can't ask for much more. Liking some of what I'm getting out of her. Wildriver's Black Swan
Black (hidden steel)
A-B-C-DdEse- Arroyo Blitzen (Chestnut) x Wildriver's Thorina (Broken Blue). Aww, my lovely swan. Another one of my awesome girls that my program has benefited greatly from. She is known to produce good ears (better than her own) and good fur. She has nice big litters and can not only feed her own, she can foster others like a champ. Genetically, she kinda turned out to be a funny doe though. I originally thought she was just a plain old black but after getting 2 cream babies out of her bred to another self, I was thrown off! I eventually discovered that she was actually a hidden steel and not a true black at all. Sure enough, bred to Agouti, she will produce steel. Very neat doe here! Amazingly enough, she's an agouti herself but looks like a self black because of the strange way the steel gene works with different gene combinations. Definitely and interesting puzzle solved! |
